About the project

Eclipsi26.com

The digital outlet for solar eclipses in Catalunya. Archive of the total solar eclipse of 12 August 2026, and guide to the partial eclipse of 2 August 2027 and the annular eclipse of 26 January 2028. Science-based information from official sources, in Catalan, Spanish and English.

Eclipsi26.com was created to cover the total solar eclipse of 12 August 2026, a phenomenon that will not be seen again from Catalunya until 2180. We lived it, we reported it and we keep it.

Today the project has two purposes. The first is to preserve the digital archive and legacy of that day: data, map, photographs and the testimonies of those who saw it. The second is to guide you through the eclipses to come, explaining what will be visible from each part of Catalunya, at what time, for how long and how to watch it safely.

Three eclipses in three consecutive years is exceptional. Eclipsi26.com covers them from here, for those who watch from home and for those visiting Catalunya.

The partial eclipse from here

Totality will cross the south of the Iberian Peninsula; from Catalunya it will be seen as a partial eclipse. Here you will find times, how much of the Sun is covered and places to watch it. If you are travelling to the path of totality, see eclipsi27.com (in Spanish).

Historical legacy
🌌
The sky between eclipses

An astronomical calendar for Catalunya, an astrotourism directory with more than 43 destinations and the Satellites Catalunya section. These sections are available in Catalan and Spanish.

All year round
221
Municipalities, one by one

In 2026 the official reference listed 20 observation points in Catalunya. Using data from Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) we identified the 221 municipalities with a total eclipse and published for each one the start time, the maximum, the end and the duration of totality.

That is our method and we apply it to every eclipse: verified official data, taken down to local detail and explained in your language.

All astronomical data come from official sources (IGN, Observatorio Astronómico Nacional, IEEC, NASA), and the astronomical calendar is reviewed by Josep M. Cedó, Starlight guide at Astroebre.

The 2026 eclipse was lived in every square, on every beach and on every summit of Catalunya. We want that memory gathered and accessible.

If you are a town council, an organisation, a school or an individual with photographs, videos or memories of 12 August, write to us at eclipsi2026@gmail.com. We publish the material crediting its author.

We work with brands, institutions and astrotourism businesses through sponsorships, featured listings in the directory and content partnerships. For commercial proposals: clara@eclipsi26.com.

Eclipsi26.com is an independent project. It is funded by sponsorships, the astrotourism directory, sales of its own products and affiliate links: if you buy through some links we receive a commission, at no extra cost to you.

Sponsored content and affiliate links are always identified as such.

Clara Llopart

Founder and editor

I have worked in digital marketing and communication for more than twenty years, first at Hewlett Packard and in Google's initial team for agencies in Spain, and then leading my own consultancy. Eclipsi26.com brings that craft together with a long-standing passion: nature, astronomy and the wish to explain them well.

I build this outlet with the rigour I apply to any data and with the emotion of someone who was there on 12 August, looking at the sky.
